Server Assistant and Food Runner

Located eight miles from downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the South Hills, St. Clair Country Club is searching for motivated, reliable, and passionate individuals to add to our dining room service team. We currently have openings for Food Runners and Server Assistants. These are great positions for candidates without experience in the food & beverage industry that are looking to gain experience or for those who are not yet 18 years of age that are looking for exposure in preparation for becoming a server or bartender.

Compensation:

Server Assistant - $11/hr

Food Runner - $13.20/hr

Hours of operations:

Both positions are scheduled for dinner only with a start time of 4:30pm. The Club is open Tuesday through Sunday during season (April-October) and Wednesday through Sunday during the off-season (October-March). Weekend and holiday availability is also important.

Essential Duties of Server Assistant:

  • Provides outstanding service with a smile to our members and their guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Displays teamwork and doing "whatever it takes" to deliver optimum member/guest experience.
  • Assist servers in their duties including:
    • Make sure tables, chairs, and surrounding areas are detailed and ready for member arrival, including pre-setting water.
    • Provides continuous assistance throughout meals including bread service, re-fill water, clear dirty dishes after each course, clear tables at the end of meal, clean and sanitize tables & chairs, and reset tables.
  • Remains productive throughout shift with opening/closing side work assigned by Service Manager or Dining Room Manager.

Essential Duties of Food Runner:

  • Provides outstanding service with a smile to our members and their guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Displays teamwork and doing "whatever it takes" to deliver optimum member/guest experience.
  • Prepares and organizes all necessary items needed for each order: proper sides, condiments, utensils, etc.
  • Works with PM Sous Chef to ensure accuracy of food orders before delivering to tables.
  • If the server is unavailable, serves food to members using seat numbers supplied on meal ticket.
  • Polishes utensils that are stored in the kitchen and delivered for specific use: steak knives, soup spoons, etc.
  • Remains productive throughout shift with opening/closing side work assigned by Service Manager or Dining Room Manager.

Other Functions:

  • Handles issues courteously and professionally.
  • Advises supervisor of any member/guest complaints so they can be immediately and professionally resolved.
  • Operates within all guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints as established by the company.
